In the winter of 1991, Pastors Glenn & Rhonda Ewart were on their faces before God seeking His direction for their lives. As they prayed, the Holy Spirit quickened to them Colossians 2:2: "that their heart may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining...the knowledge of the mystery of God." The Lord impressed upon them that it pleases Him to see His children living cheerfully and victoriously. Therefore, He commissioned them to go in His compassion to build "The Encouraged Church".

Pastor Glenn grew up in a small coal mining town in southwest Pennsylvania, having had several glorious encounters with Jesus in his youth. The Lord led him to Harford County in 1972, where he has served both as a teacher and a pastor.  Rhonda, the daughter of ministers, spent her childhood in western Maryland. She moved to Harford County in 1974 when her parents were transferred to a local church. One beautiful spring evening, as Glenn was leading a Bible study at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Rhonda walked into his life. They fell deeply in love, and married soon after, in Nov. of 1978. Their marriage has been blessed with five children and an abundance of grandchildren. They are not only committed to each other, but also to the vision of "The Encouraged Church".

 

Pastor Glenn and Rhonda hold ordination credentials through ICFM (International Convention of Faith Ministries) and are associated with Pastor Craig McLeod of Life Church in Buffalo, New York.   The organizational structure (in addition to the founding pastors) includes: an oversight board, a corporate board, elders, deacons, department directors, and support staff.  The Encouraged Church is Christ-centered, Bible-believing, and Spirit-filled. We unashamedly lift up the redemptive work of Christ upon the cross and thank God wholeheartedly for His grace and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
